Great Malvern Priory Weddings

Beth and Matthew held their wedding at Great Malvern Priory in Worcestershire, before holding their wedding reception at the equally amazing Whitbourne Hall, just on the Worcestershire/Herefordshire border.

I hadn't worked at the priory before, so I was really excited when I got to visit the location for the first time during the couple's wedding rehearsal. Great Malvern Priory is an incredible place for a wedding, with cathedral-esque architecture and a wonderful quality to the light.

I had discussed where I could stand with the vicar before the wedding, and asked if I could stand at the one end of the priory, in the choir stalls. My second photographer (who is visible in this image) was standing at the back in order to get a second angle on things. I knew that the aisle was long and that I would need a relatively long telephoto lens in order to get the best from the situation. Three-quarters of the way down the aisle, Beth stopped for her father to raise her veil before walking a few final paces towards her soon-to-be-husband, Matthew.

I love how this image works in black and white, it's such a timeless look and very befitting of the venue.
