This page represents another favourite of mine, a collection of stunning and timeless black and white photos showing the arrival of the bride and the opening part of the wedding ceremony in Birtsmorton Court Church.
The very first photo in the top left corner of the left page shows Kevan and his best man on the front row of the church pews, awaiting the arrival of his soon-to-be wife, Deborah, who was waiting just outside.
From here, we see the father of the bride and his daughter walking down the aisle. For this image, I had to stand on the right hand side of the church as the vicar had moved and was now standing in my line of sight to the bride. As soon as the bride was more than half way down the aisle, I moved my position again so that I could see the bride as she meets her husband at the end of the aisle.
The bottom left image of the left page shows the bride getting nearer to the end of the aisle where she's about to meet her soon-to-be husband. Kevan had resisted the urge to turnaround and take a peak at his bride as she was walking in, leaving the surprise to the very last moment.
The fourth and final image on the left page shows that moment when the bride and groom's eyes finally meet for the first time on their wedding day.
The right page image was taken a couple of seconds later, and I just love the look on everyone's faces, especially the father of the bride who looks slightly anxious.
I absolutely love these images in black and white. Leaving colour in a photo sometimes means that a certain colour in the background for example, becomes the overriding feature of an image. Black and white leaves all these distractions behind, and allows you to properly focus in on what's actually happening in the photo. Images like this have a truly timeless quality.
