Photos of the bride having her lipstick applied as a finishing touch is one of my favourite photos to take in the bridal prep part of the day. There's a certain beauty to these images, and a sense of the calm before the storm. I like to photograph these scenes with a slightly longer lens, usually a 50mm or an 85mm in order to be able to really focus in on the bride. Another reason for the slightly longer lens is to help separate the bride from the background, as there's usually quite a lot going on at this time, and there's often bridesmaids, parents or other wedding suppliers in the back of the image.
