The Orangery, Bredenbury Court

The Orangery at Bredenbury Court is the room in which wedding ceremonies take place. The Orangery is one of the original rooms at the venue, from the days when the wedding venue was a private school. Since the school closed, the site was bought and repurposed as a wedding venue. The wedding venue started taking bookings very early on, before the building work was anywhere near being complete. Amazingly, a lot of couples actually booked their wedding based on nothing but blueprints!

The Orangery is a long, thin room with wooden flooring and windows all down the one side. There are also skylights the length of the ceiling, all of which combine to flood the area with soft, natural light. The room itself will hold around 120 people, although in the image above it's set up for 78 wedding guests plus two seats for the bride and groom.

I really like how the room has been made to look - the whitewashed walls add to the crisp feel, and there's a lovely contrast with the oak flooring.

Running along the outside of the orangery is a terrace, where guests are able to enjoy reception drinks and canapés when the weather outside allows for it. The terrace is also a good place in which to take group photos - with the wedding guests amassed below.
