Bredenbury Court Wedding Ceremony

The Orangery at Bredenbury Court in where wedding ceremonies are licensed to take place. It's a stunning room, with windows all down the one side and skylights too, giving the most gorgeous light.

The bride and groom, Roz and Arjan, had spent all morning apart as per tradition and were really making sure that they didn't inadvertently run into each other, despite getting ready only a couple of paces from each other.

I had met the bride and groom in the months before the wedding and I could see how they acted with each other. They were totally in love and really complimented each other perfectly. You could just tell these two really belong together. It was an emotional time all morning, with the bride and groom getting ready separately, and the culmination of that would be where the bride and groom got to see each other for the first time at the end of the aisle.

In order to get the best wedding photos, I stood as far back in the ceremony room as I could, far back behind the registrar's table, and shooting with a long lens so my presence doesn't feel felt.

The look of happiness of the brides face as she walked down the aisle was just amazing, and the second she reached her soon to be husband, the two just put their heads together and you could see all of the tension of the morning disappear instantly. What makes this image better for me is the look of the father of the bride on the right of the frame. Personally I feel this image works best in black and white - colour can often be an unwelcome distraction, but as soon as you make an image black and white, all distractions are removed and you're able to focus solely on what really matters in wedding photography - the raw, true emotion of the day.
