Bredenbury Court Barn wedding venue in Herefordshire

Bredenbury Court is a wedding venue in Herefordshire, just over the border from Worcestershire and a few miles past Bromyard.

I visited Bredenbury Court with the bride and groom a couple of months before their wedding, in order to have a look around and decide on where I wanted to take the wedding photos before the day itself. This serves several purposes, largely for the bride and groom to let me know the areas in which they would personally like to have photos taken. For me as a wedding photographer, it's a great time to get my bearing, so I spend less time trying to find my way around on the wedding day, but also to pre-plan all of the particularly special images that I want to take.

I had just taken some stunning wedding photos in the grounds of Bredenbury Court, and as the couple and myself were walking back to the inside of the venue, we passed the bandstand pergola you can see here in the image. I placed the bride and groom inside, in order to keep them dry more than anything else, and placed behind them a small remotely-controlled flashgun on a lighting stand, pointed up towards the ceiling. When the photo is taken, the light goes directly up and rebounds off the inside of the roof of the structure, and comes back down in a really even manner. This provides a really flattering light for the bride and groom, but at the same time, illuminates the shape of the structure. As a byproduct, the extra light spills out into the night air, and any drops of rain are illuminated too.
