Stanbrook Abbey Weddings

Louise and Matt got married at Stanbrook Abbey in Worcestershire. Louise got ready at the venue, whilst Matt and his best man got ready at the couple's home.

I had spent all morning with the bridal party, and had arranged a time to meet with Matt and his groomsmen before the wedding, allowing me to get photos of both the bride and groom separately before the wedding.

During my time with Louise and her bridesmaids, I was photographing the wedding dress and had hung it from one of the lights within the Board Room, before leaving to go and photograph Matt getting ready only next door. When I had come back from taking some photos of the groomsmen, I noticed this young flower-girl sitting and guarding the wedding dress. I tried my best to get a photo of the girl looking at the dress, but when I put my camera to my eye, she instinctively turned at me and smiled.

The the main image, I waited for Matt and his ushers to be fully dressed and ready for the wedding before I took them outside for a few quick photos. For the portraits of the groom, I used my favourite portrait lens - my 85mm f/1.4 at it's widest aperture and focused on the groom's eyes. This wide aperture means that the background is as out of focus as it's possible to be, really making the groom standout in the image and almost appear three dimensional.
