Pendrell Hall weddings

The bride and groom pose for a wedding photo after their wedding ceremony was held at Pendrell Hall.

Pendrell Hall is a wonderful country house wedding venue in Codsall, offering no corkage fees and exclusive use. The venue benefits from a secluded location, with large and extensive grounds and beautiful rooms inside.

My style of wedding photography is what's come to be known as documentary wedding photography, but at times I am asked to take a more formal portrait of the bride and groom, usually in a place in the venue that they've asked to be photographed in. Just because I specialise in reportage wedding photography doesn't mean I can't pose a formal photo when it's needed!

Charlene and Chris really wanted an image next to the venue's large fireplace. Photos like this can be hard to photography - standing the bride and groom next to each other often leads to the thing they wanted photographed being obscured. I noticed this luxurious leather single seat chair in the corner of the room, next to an old lamp that was providing a warm glow. Owing to the shape and size of Charlene's wedding dress, I decided to have her seated in order to show off the wedding dress as best I could. Putting the bridal bouquet on her lap also meant that the flowers could be seen in the photograph too. For Chris, there was no option but to stand him next to his new wife. Placing his left arm on the top of the chair helps tie him in to the image, and having his right hand in his pocket gives a less-nervy, more relaxed feel to the photo.
